Frienda May fete was a success with clear parade weather. A new brick store on Front Street will soon be ready for occupancy. Flower decorations for the storefront, a boat soda, and springtime songs are noted. Local candidates begin to campaign as neighbors welcome all. Dewberries are ripe and the Hello Girl is ill but hoped to recover soon.
Two Brookshire girls graduate at Divine High School in the town. Ming Doris Avery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Avery, and Helen Legler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Legler, are listed among the graduates.
Hempstead High School students stage a benefit play in the school auditorium this evening with admission set at 20 cents for children and 35 cents for adults. High school patrons are urged to attend and support the event.
Prof Suiday and Mrs J C Muske were reelected for two years as Pattison school teachers. Mrs Henry Buller and Miss Marie Calientt were chosen for the ensuing year.
A resident urges completing Front Street grading prior to the upcoming election. The note mentions enjoying berry pie and fried chicken with friends, celebrates community progress, and notes a neighbor installing a Frigidaire. The writer questions ice purchases and progress prospects.
The May Fete sponsored by the Methodist Ladies Aid under Mrs. W. D. Bains drew a large crowd despite threatening weather. A 6 p.m. parade showcased twelve floats and cars decorated in patriotic and floral themes, with leadership from Mrs. H. D. Cooper and numerous chairmen including Mrs. J. C. Day and Mrs. E. W. Reeves.
Brookshire merchants and citizens contributed generously and aided the May Fete. Notable help came from Brother Atkinson Arther Wilson Negos Agopian seating and lighting led by Z K Beyler secured gifts from local firms including Admiration Coffee Dun can Coffee The Roth Packing House Betty Lou Cakes Betty Lou Bakeries 25 lbs Candy Vasek Candy Co Max Wander Johnnie Taylor Ed Wirpitz 200 Ib ice The Methodist Ladies Aid O H Hopkins and wife supported Mr Hopkins campaign for County Superintendent. A A Maske and Sam Harrison went to Austin for business.
The Times announces Reginal B Bracewell as a candidate for re election as County Attorney of Waller County He pledges to perform duties in a fair impartial manner without fear or evasion and earnestly solicits votes and support in the upcoming election.
The Brookshire Colored School completed its term with Monday and Tuesday exercises. Visitors inspected student work as judges awarded prizes for Science Drawing Sewing and Wood Work. Final program Tuesday night praised by principals and staff.
