Mothers and other ladies prepared costumes and flowers for Brookshire May Day parade this afternoon at 6 o'clock on the school grounds. The event includes the crowning of the Queen and a program, with a dainty Miss leading the parade and a neighborly rear guard.
Dr I B Sigler will be in his Brookshire office from Tuesday May 6 until Saturday night. A B Anderson Notary Public.
County Judge reports progress on Brookshire Katy road south of the M K T R R and says state engineers and the road committee must finish the job. Rhemann met Gulf Good Roads Association engineer T B Warden in Hempstead who will survey with a Houston district engineer next week to complete prerequisites for opening the route.
Last Monday Judge S C McCall denied the State plea for change of venue in the Hell Garrett murder case after hearing twenty five witnesses. The case was set for trial at the September term of court by agreement between the attorneys for the defendant and the State.
Sweetwater prepares to dispose of water problems as Bitter Creek reservoir work begins. The dam will be 2,700 feet long and eighty feet high, with a total project cost of $1,000,000.

A Brookshire Route 1 social at Geo Bell’s home drew a lively young crowd Friday night. Visitors included Mrs Barton and daughters from Houston and Frank Stephan and wife from Houston. Weekends saw multiple families hosting or visiting in Brookshire and Crosby with extended kin present.

Dr and Mrs P M Donigan return home Tuesday night after a fifteen month visit with relatives in Europe and Asia Minor. They arrived in New York last week aboard the Beregaria with niece Miss Alice Hovas of Houston who joined them in Europe last summer and K S Gregory a Jerusalem native and Beirut civil engineer graduate who plans to settle in America. The party toured Canada before heading south.
A hard win and light rain Monday night caused little damage and provided some benefit to gardens. Crops, however, still need a substantial rain to improve conditions.
Ed Kadlacek and his wife spent Sunday at Sunnyside. Patti son school indoor ball team played Monaville pupils and defeated them.
