Protecting Land Against Erosion in Waller County

Merle R. Pretty, drilling contractor, says an oil show at 860 feet was false and the well is now at 745 feet. He cites a leaking pump lubrication causing surface oil in the water and notes the oil was refined lubricant, not crude. Hempstead remains in lease activity with acreage blocked south of townsite.

Union Rites Held for Mrs. Jim Smith 80
Mrs. Jim Smith age 80 of the Myrtle Grove Community was buried after death at her daughter's Houston home. She leaves a husband a daughter and five sons Bell Louis Searcy Lee of Houston and Jeff Walter of Waller. Attendants included Miss J R Oge and Mr and Mrs G M Tompkins and Mr and Mrs J C Tompkins. Death of Mrs. Jennie Wander 78 in San Antonio
Funeral services were held Sunday for Mrs. Jennie Wander 78 who died Friday in San Antonio after a heart attack. Rabbi Barnston of Temple Beth Israel officiated. Born Austin March 16 1862 she is survived by sons W W Wander Leo Wander of Houston and Max Wander of this city.
