The first lady visited Hempstead to inspect a New Deal rock community center built by N Y A workers. She praised the sturdy construction and noted it will host adult meetings and children’s play. She then traveled to Prairie View college to tour two dormitories and a domestic training cottage for Black girls.
Magnolia Petroleum charts Allsup Estate 1 location in Katy area near Stanolind wells. The first gas well for the company in the field sits 1320 feet from two tract lines in E B Couch survey 108, half a mile south of Hargraves 1 and 1.5 miles west of Young 1. McCarty Williams 1 at Stanolind tested electrical work below 7000 feet in survey 99. Local college ceremony described with student applause.
Mary Gladys Deal of Waller is named among the Southwest Texas State College honor roll for the first semester. Students must have a B average or higher with no failing grades to qualify for the scholastically superior list.
