Pattison Citizens Plan Public Park Gift Land

Enthusiastic Pattison residents met at Pattison school on Friday night June 20 to plan a public park from land given by the late George M. Pattison. The one acre site beside Pattison town property will feature a fence barbecue pits concrete tables a water well electric lights and a shelter for sudden rain. Funding will come from individual donations estimated at 300 to 400 dollars. The Finance Committee includes Mrs Bessie Pattison Mrs G L Buller Mrs Vivian Taylor Mrs Reese Jones Mrs Francis Wilson Guy Pattison and James Pattison. The board of directors includes W C Norris president Guy Pattison Jr vice president G L Buller sec treas Johnnie Mikeska and Jim Pattison.

Katy Farmers Join Houston Farm and Ranch Club Luncheon

The Farm and Ranch club of Houston met at the Old College Inn for a luncheon Tuesday. Attending members include H. E. Jordan Leonard Jordan I L Southard Roy Woods Charlie Morton Dick Freeman Walter Egger J E B Watson. Earl McMillian, president, promoted Katy area advertising and membership.

Veterans Vocational Farm class to discuss livestock farming

Beginning this week students at the Veterans' Vocational School in Pattison will discuss all phases of livestock farming. The first topics cover dairy range and dual purpose cattle with veterans guiding questions and answers.

Sealy Family Injured in Katy Head-On Crash

P H Engelke daughter Lillian and Mrs Cecil Turner, all of Sealy, were in a head-on collision at the U S 90 railroad crossing in Katy on Monday night returning from Houston. Lillian suffered a forehead gash and received first aid in Katy before admission to Sealy hospital. The 1946 Ford and a 1942 Pontiac piloted by Houston residents were involved. the Engelke car was to Sealy next morning.

Local residents share visits and trips this week

Sheriff A. B Fletcher of Hempstead was here Monday. Mrs. Franklin Beckendorff and son returned home Thursday night from Holland Texas. Miss Beulah Jones went back to Texarkana after two weeks with her aunt Mrs H W Buller and cousin Jackie Donald. Mr and Mrs Louie Harbison and Mrs Fred Freitag were Columbus visitors Monday. Commissioner Delphine Stefka of Precinct 4 looked for bridge timber Friday. Mrs John H Schmidt of Monaville shopped here Monday. Mr and Mrs Louis McCauley and son Danny and Leo Goats spent the week at Marble Falls fishing and caught several nice fish.

Dedication program for Katy First Baptist Church 1947

Katy Baptist Church to Be Dedicated Sunday

The Katy Baptist Church in Katy will be dedicated Sunday June 29 with Rev R T Blalock inviting former pastors and members and the public. A basket lunch will be served at noon. The building features 18th century design with modern amenities including a neon sign and an elevator viewable pulpit. The property valued near 100000 dollars includes church education building grounds and a two story pastor’s home.

Traveling couple's cross country journey via Pacific routes

Mr and Mrs Rapasilver shopped in Houston on Saturday. Mr and Mrs D E Thompson left the 81st of May for Port Townsend Washington arriving June 7 after a brief Los Angeles visit. They traveled inland through Yosemite National Park Crater Lake and other notable spots.
