At the Methodist Conference Rev and Mrs Durwood Blackwell were appointed to Katy Methodist church. Rev J Paul Horton moves to Houston to lead Collins Memorial Church. Rev G Z Sadler returns to Brookshire. Bro Tunnell preached his last sermon. Rev R B Moon to relieve him and move to Pat tison and Fulshear churches. The Moons arrive from Palestine Oakwood to serve in Houston area.

Brookshire Methodists To Sponsor Barbecue

Vet Vocational School Organizes Pattison Club

The Veterans Vocational school in Pattison formed a club on Wednesday night June 4 to foster cooperation in school and community. Officers elected: John Eckert chair, A Miller treasurer, John R Ta tum secretary, Willie Best sergeant at arms, George M Pattison reporter. A demonstration of culling chickens is planned for June 21 at Miller farm and a July 12 demonstration of chemical weed killers by Dow Chemical Co of Houston.

Gas Plant and Fulshear win Monday league games

Gas Plant defeated the Lions 12 to 2 as Lists starred on the mound in his season debut. Mulvey doubled in the first to spark a big first inning and Sanders Ellington made running catches in the outfield. In the nightcap Fulshear beat Rotary 16 to 6 in six innings as Longenbaugh and Egger split duties. Schmalz pitched well for Rotary. The schedule also includes Humble Production versus Massey-Harris and Humble Production against the Lions of Brookshire with more league implications.

F F A Summer Rodeo Opens Saturday Night

The Katy FFA chapter sponsors a summer rodeo season starting Saturday night June 21 with an 8 PM grand entry. Events include beginner races for under 12, ladies flag race, calf ribbon, team events, steer and bull riding, wild horse race, and calf break away. In a charity practice game the Rotary Club beat the Lions 14 to 1 to aid Katy Boy Scouts. Lyles pitched strong striking out 19, Arnold showed power at the plate and behind the catcher. Proceeds support sending a Katy Scout to the World Jamboree.
