The Brookshire Assembly of God marked its largest crowd for Fathers Day in Sunday School. The oldest father was W. C. Tickner, the youngest Richard Van Horn, and Loyd Ray had the largest family. they received Bibles in honor of the occasion.
Sacred Heart Church in Brookshire announces a summer catechism program for children six and up starting Monday June 27 from 8 30 to 11 30 am for three weeks with free books and materials. An adult religious instruction course will run Monday Wednesday and Friday evenings June 27 to July 15 from 8 to 9 15 pm featuring nine lectures on God man and religion led by Rev. Mr. James Quilter.
Rev D L Landrum Jr preached his first Brookshire sermon and becomes the town’s new pastor. He moved from Joaquin with wife Betty Curry to serve as resident pastor after earlier assignments in Milano Calvert and Texarkana. His father D L Landrum Sr leads the Beaumont district. the family wishes a pleasant stay.
First Baptist Church of Katy sent Mrs. J A Haley and Mrs. O L Fielder with twelve Girls Auxiliary G A members to a Pineywoods encampment between Groveton and Corrigan last week. Pack corn in jars and headspace to 1 inch not pressed. Add 1% salt and tea spoon. Fill with boiling water, apply lids, process pint jars at 10 pounds for 95 minutes. quarts not recommended. Remove jars and seal, use new reusable aluminum lids for No 2 and No 303 cans. Contact this office for help preserving food via freezing or canning with Extension Service guidance.
