Numerous state officials and public figures attended the funeral of Barry Miller a three time Lieutenant Governor. He died Tuesday at age sixty nine after months of illness. Services were held at St Patrick's Church Harwood and Aiken and burial followed at the family estate plot. Messages of sympathy came from across Texas and elsewhere.

Barn Near Katy Destroyed by Fire
A large barn at the home of Sam Rosze Sr four miles southwest of Katy was destroyed by fire Monday night. The barn, the largest in the area, valued at 1200 dollars, had no insurance. Losses included all hay and feed, spring potato crop, a Peerless sedan, and two Fords. Origin of the fire is unknown. The family was home at 1030 PM when they smelled smoke and found the barn ablaze. Efforts to save other buildings were made unsuccessfully.

Mrs. Mattie Marie Urban longtime Hempstead resident died at home Monday at age 86. Funeral services were held Tuesday from her Hempstead home with Rev A J Nicholson officiating.
