Congregational Friendship Club Halloween Party

The Congregational Friendship Club begins its new year on Tuesday October 22 at 8 o'clock with a Halloween party in Wakeling Hall. Newly elected officers will run the event and married couples from the church are invited to join the fun. Dr Henry to Speak on Philosophy at Brookfield Baptist

Dr Carl F. H. Henry former New York City writer and journalist will speak Sunday evening October 20 at 9:45 PM at Brookfield Baptist Church. He is a philosophy professor at Nathern Baptist Seminary guest professor at Wheaton College Wheaton, Michigan. He authored six books most recently Remodeling the Modern Mind. Magic show planned by AVC at RBHS auditorium

The West Suburban Chapter of the American Veterans Committee plans an evening magic show at RBHS auditorium on November 1 featuring Orenda The Magician. Tickets will be available soon. Delegates J Norman Aylesworth of Brookfield and Robert Ries of La Grange will represent the chapter at the Chicago Area convention October 25 to 27 at the Stevens Hotel. Next meeting is Monday October 21 at AVC headquarters 640 South Jeweta Brookfield.

R B’s steady improvement nets 12 0 win over Maine

R B’s football team rolled to a 12 0 victory at Maine on Friday October 11 with a first half touchdown set up by a late lateral from Hurr to Wackrow and a second score in the final quarter driven to the Maine one yard line before Berger punched in. Milt Svejnar the freshman left halfback ran strongly totaling over 140 yards. Maine threatened early as three first downs were stopped by Herb Berger’s interception. Coach Eilingson and the squad hope the last two games signal improvement for the future.

Maine lights defeat RB high school team 14-0

RB High’s lightweight squad suffered its second loss of the season as Maine’s lights handed them a 14 to 0 setback on Saturday. Peterson to Lane produced the only first half score with 21 seconds left, followed by a Maine TD by Toerker and a later pass interception that doomed RB. Injuries to Bed Christenson, Bod Brenton, and Varl Fiebeg were noted during the game.

Armistice Dance To Be Held By Brookfield VFW Post 2868

Brookfield VFW Post 2868 will sponsor an Armistice dance at National Hall Prairie avenue on November 9. Two top orchestras Frank Hart Aragon Chicago theatre will provide performances. World War I veterans lead the club for another year with officers to be chosen by World War II veterans in spring 1948. A meeting room remodel at Ogden avenue aims to create a new space for veterans and guests.

New Wrinkle AMVETS Give Away House

AMVETS of Illinois branches led by Brookfield plan a $20,000 six room furnished house with a 1947 Studebaker in the garage. Proceeds support Rehabilitation work at Vaughan General Hospital. House under construction on Park Avenue near Ogden, open for inspection after Cyt. 31. Award date to be announced later.
