Brookfield Women of the Moose Chapter 526 held a regular meeting at National Hall on Friday October 8. Balloting on 17 candidates for initiation on October 22 followed the meeting. Announcements and correspondence were read by secretary Anne Brochmann. Secret gifts marked anniversaries for several members and a Mooseheart night celebration was noted for the upcoming October 22 event with formal attire requested.

Three Injured in Two Brookfield Car Crashes

Three persons were injured in two automobile accidents in Brookfield during the past week, police report. In one crash at Ogden and Maple on Sunday afternoon two drivers Ed ward Burda of Chicago and Stanley Pierce of 4952 Madison Avenue were hurt and taken to a hospital. Ed ward Burda sustained injuries including a bruised knee and a forehead injury.

Edward Day Serves Aboard Destroyer In Amphibious War Games

Edward C. Day, gunnett's mate first class USN and son of Mr. and Mrs. Adenson of Brookfield, serves on USS William M. Wood during amphibious training off Southern California commanded by Rear Admiral Rodgers. About 19,000 navy and Marine personnel, 46 ships, and 320 landing lanes participate from Sept 20 to Oct 1. Landings at San Clemente Island and Camp Pendleton used live ammo with ships and planes supporting. Around 600 students and faculty from Fort Leavenworth attended to observe amphibious warfare techniques.
