Christian Science Pou Caeren of Christ hosts free preschool care for children ages 3 to 8 during Sunday services while parents attend church. The church holds a Wednesday evening Doctrine of Atonement session with testimonies of healing. Memorial Hospital Hines Illinois and Chan's Hospital share chapel times on the second and fourth Saturdays monthly. Three persons were injured in two automobile accidents in Brookfield during the past week, police report. In one crash at Ogden and Maple on Sunday afternoon two drivers Ed ward Burda of Chicago and Stanley Pierce of 4952 Madison Avenue were hurt and taken to a hospital. Ed ward Burda sustained injuries including a bruised knee and a forehead injury.
Edward C. Day, gunnett's mate first class USN and son of Mr. and Mrs. Adenson of Brookfield, serves on USS William M. Wood during amphibious training off Southern California commanded by Rear Admiral Rodgers. About 19,000 navy and Marine personnel, 46 ships, and 320 landing lanes participate from Sept 20 to Oct 1. Landings at San Clemente Island and Camp Pendleton used live ammo with ships and planes supporting. Around 600 students and faculty from Fort Leavenworth attended to observe amphibious warfare techniques.
