Brookfield Fire Dept Prepares For New Ladder Truck

The Brookfield fire department awaits delivery of a long ordered combination ladder truck and pumper, hoped for this fall, to enhance fire fighting. A two way communication system was installed on two ladder units, improving rapid dispatch and cooperation with neighboring suburbs in emergencies. The department has four full time members and 15 volunteers, with Chief McDowell or Lt. Frank Hawes on call, plus engineers Walter Bruns and Wilbert Langele. Chief McDowell urged fire prevention as preventable 90 percent of fires stem from careless handling of matches, defective chimneys or wiring, and rubbish near heating plants, stressing owner responsibility to avoid injuries.

Breakfield Methodist plans second annual School of Religion

The Breakfield Methodist church announces a second annual School of Religion with five Monday evenings from Oct 11 to Nov 8. Stadium Back Entrance Ramps Under Construction This Week

The sidewalks to the stadium rear and the ramps are being laid this week. The field house will house 300 lockers for boys and girls, plus shower rooms dressing rooms public restrooms first aid rooms and storerooms.

Past Grands Club Meets at Cushman Home

The Past Grands club gathered Monday night at Helen Cushman's home at 9500 Washington Avenue. After two business meetings led by president Ingeborg Krause, entertainment followed with prizes awarded to Alice Klemme Isabel Jackson and Anna Berry. Plans were completed for Past Grand night at the lodge.
