La Grange High Wins West Suburban League Title

Chuck Baldwin kicked the extra point after Jack Gillstror's third period TD to lift La Grange High School to the West Suburban league football championship on Saturday. It was their fifth straight win, with a must-win next week to stay undefeated. Glenbard upset Maine 12 7 at Glen Ellyn, Merrill Loftiss and Bob Ottesgen each scored a first period TD. York shut out Riverside 27 6 with Joe Turyna scoring all TDs.

James Liska 77 Buried Wednesday

Funeral services for James Liska 77 of 232438 Prairie were held Wednesday afternoon at Mansfield Funeral Home with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Josephine three daughters and no son.

Kiwanis Meets As President-Elect Declines Post

Kiwanis club met Tuesday evening with 18 members present. John Schrade, chosen president last week, cannot accept the post due to ill health per his physician. Nominating committee Hodge Paden J W Willis and Ben Bleck will select a successor next week after the regular business meeting. Dinner followed the session.

Leaders in Tiny Tot Contest at Brookfield

Vote total in a week long tiny tot king and queen contest sponsored by Gross PTA raises funds for playground equipment and library books. Halloween Praise Highlights Brookfield Party Cooperation

The Brookfield event drew praise from Capt H C Crosby for orderly, friendly behavior. Volunteers from Boerman and Sons, Gross School PTA, and Brookfield Fire Department aided setup and cleanup. Prizes included a toy horse and a woolly bear, awarded to 21 children with names and ages listed in order of placement.

Infant Son of Hubert Judkins Passes Away

John Valine, three months old, infant son of Hubert and Mrs Judkins, died October 28 at Park Hospital after being taken there the day before. Parents were notified in the morning and the baby passed away during the night. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Heemine of Fairview Avenue. other relatives include Jimmie, four, and the family is from Mount Auburn area.

Painting of Lincoln Is Gifted to Riverside High

A portrait of Abraham Lincoln by Oldrich Barsky, painted in 1920 from a photograph of Robert Todd Lincoln, hangs in Riverside Brookfield High School. It was presented to the school by the Vesely brothers of Riverside in thanks for World War II service by Edward Vesely and Leo Bullinger. Barsky, born January 5, 1885 in Serbia to Czech parents, died July 3, 1939, and his works have been shown in several galleries.

Crowd gathers for annual event at the Legion hall as the Brookfield Woman's Club overflows. Cars fetch extra card tables, volunteers extend service, and 39 tables host players. Y Committee Plans Course in Dancing at LaGrange

The West Suburban YMCA offers a ten week social dancing course for young adults at the Corral LaGrange starting November 4 from 8 to 9 pm Tuesdays. The program is led by the Y social dancing committee including Mike Colgrass postmaster of Brookstew. Informal dancing after instruction is planned.

Maine Captures Sub Harrier Title At Glenbard Meet

Maine won the West Suburban conference cross country meet with 42 points at Glenbard to earn a state finals berth at the University of Illinois next Saturday. Individual winner was Harry Barber of Maine with a 10:15 time.

Toy Renovation Project Planned By Church Group
