Portage District Scout Spring Weekend at Camp Delavan
The Portage District of the West Suburban Council Boy Scouts of America held a two day Spring Weekend May 15 16 at Camp Delavan Wisconsin with 127 scouts and fathers. Activities included flag ceremony, outdoor bed making, boat demos, fishing casting and camp skills as well as songs, skits, and a campfire. The program featured leadership by troop leaders, a camp caretaker story of Indian arrowheads, morning bird hike and Scouts own services, with meals prepared by Arthur Tucker and a formal flag ceremony concluding the weekend. Participating units were Troops 23 25 43 45 from Brookfield Riverside and Lyons under various scoutmasters.

A farewell gathering was held at National Hall last Monday for Mr and Mrs Charles Cotora Mr and Mrs Stanley Novy Mr and Mrs Kobzina Mrs Josephine Cukrer Mrs Frances Fiain and Mrs Christine Tomecek as a two car group traveling to Czechoslovakia. Corsages white ribbons boutonniere wallets were given to the men. Prank Susca and Bob Krefka offered short speeches. About 75 Sokol Prokfield members and friends attended to wish them well.
