Postmaster Colgrass notes air mail has grown to a national network of 120000 miles and a foreign service reaching every country. He credits air mail with building an aviation industry and a peaceful nation’s communications and progress. It stands as a bulwark of democratic ideals and national well being.
The note states that stopping leaf growth at the top can kill any plant. It claims green leaves feed the roots, implying leaves support root nourishment and overall plant health.
The United Lutheran Church in America calls for emergency legislation to aid 400000 displaced Christians in Europe over four years. He travels by car to Key West with Mr and Mrs FL Wellman and Earl Wellman and son, then flies to Havana Cuba for the 25th Anniversary Annual convention of the American Air Mail Association. They will visit Cuban sights and return by air.
Ernest Tabor recalls the Tabor brothers starting a cigar factory in Cigarfield under M. Tabor, describing community ties, family milestones, and a recent ownership change to Joseph Matinsky and his son Arthur, presenting a hopeful future with a warm, period-tone voice.
Newly elected junior officers at Stovuafield Youth Center outline an active year. Riverside will host the season opener at Riverside-Brookfield High School. Members of Edw. Feely unit of the American Legion held an ecard party on Wednesday May 19 at the Legion hall with many members and visitors present. Prizes included an electric iron to Mrs Elsie Evans and a pressure cooker to Mrs Ella Wheeler. Auxiliary members, helpers, and captains supported a poppy sale to raise funds for veterans rehabilitation at hospitals.
