Community Service Month Observed by American Legion Auxiliaries

Mrs Hazel Wilson heads Feely unit with 1 000 000 members from Alaska to Panama and Paris to Guam joining in March as Community Service month. The group promotes gifts of books to public libraries as World War II memorials and honors past presidents. Bookplates are supplied by the state organization and placed in each donated library book. Memorial trees, parks, centers, bookmobiles, and libraries are encouraged along with national efforts to fight polio. Additional activities support Red Cross nursing courses, first aid, water safety, fire prevention, driving safety, health clinics, school attendance, and recreation. Elsie Evans assists Mrs Reedy in these efforts.
