Electro Motive shuts plants for vacation at LaGrange and Chicago
Electro Motive announces a two week production pause at its LaGrange and Chicago plants starting Monday August 2 as thousands of workers take vacation. Inventory period limits work to maintenance with about 1000 staff in LaGrange and 400 in Chicag o. Eligible employees receive pay during the two week break while others may work inventory duty.

90 Anti-Tank Guardsmen at Encampment
Illinois National Guard Anti-Tank company from LaGrange and Downers Grove joins 228th Infantry at Camp Ellis near Table Grove for a two week summer encampment of the 33rd division. About 70 men and three officers departed early Saturday for training including classroom instruction and field exercises at Camp Ellis facilities. Captain George W. Wahlberg Jr. commands the unit with Lt Harold J. Carr and Lt Robert S. Brewer among officers. enlisted roster lists members from Brookfield Oak Riverside and Elm areas with ranks from private to sergeant. Encampment runs through Saturday August 7 with chapels dispensaries PXs and movies provided for soldiers.
