Two new sea lions join the zoo population

The zoo reports eight California Sea Lions and one Stellar Sea Lion, weighing 1300 pounds, with two new arrivals at 140 and 160 pounds. The Stellar Sea Lion arrived heavier but now appears thinner. Fatal issue stems from visitors tossing bottles and food. nineteen pop bottles were removed in a month. An Elephant Seal died from bowel impact after peanuts.

Brookfield vacationers Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Johnson and their two daughters Arlene and Lois, with his parents, completed a 3000 mile eastward tour. They visited New York City, Cape Cod, White Mountains, Twins Mountain cabin in New Hampshire, Adirondacks, Detroit friends, and returned via Canada. They reported a very good time with ideal weather and many scenic wonders.

Fra udulent stamp used on mail to Puritan church case

About 150000 pieces addressed to the Puritan church and its chancellor were stamped fraudulent and returned by the LaGrange Post Office after an injunction suit against the post office was dismissed by Federal Judge Michael Igoe. Mail had been impounded since February, with a fraud order issued April 6.

Carnival crowds fill Oyden and Oak grounds opening nights

Amvets carnival at the Oyden and Oak avenues grounds drew large crowds on the first two nights. A Goose exhibit run by Norman Aylesworth was a feature, with George Baxa slated to take over Tuesday night if Commander Brookmann becomes available.
