Brookfield Village Board Hears Zoning and Finance Moves

Trustees met Monday night in a two hour session with Mayor Hayford presiding. The Brookfield Planning Commission urged zoning up to 50 families per acre in Class B areas, referred to the zoning board. Walter D. Wilson asked settlement for sewer and water project plans. An ordinance on vehicular license fees was revised and approved with specific rates. Brookfield-North River side water dividend of about $5,000 was announced. clerk to send thanks. A conference was set on liquor license disputes, wage schedule readjustment authorized, and Clara Falout named village collector. A telephone franchise and departmental reports were noted. New homes and alterations added to November credits totaling $99,987.06. Annexation of no man’s land area discussed, about 100 acres, subject to owner approval. Permits approved for four residential builds. Bluebird and West Towns transportation issues reviewed. re-hearing requested in Commerce Commission case, Bluebird entry case set for Dec 24.

Riverside Brook High School concert charms audience

The spring concert at Riverside Brook High School auditorium drew a full crowd on Wednesday evening December 10. Soloist Mary Van Kirk delivered a rich smooth voice with sincerity and grace while Willard Sektbere provided deft piano accompaniment. Frances Benson notes the program was well chosen and varied with an intimate air between performer and audience.

WACs served in 400 installations in Ape United Stites and in every theater. Peak strength reached 300,000 on V E Day. About 140,001 women wore the WAC uniform. Approximately 28 percent served overseas.
