Bandits Steal Buick In Daylight Car Robbery Near Roy Wowman Residence
A bold daylight holdup occurred about 6 o clock Thursday evening three miles north of town on the Jackson highway near the Roy Wowman residence. The Buick roadster was stolen by three men, with two captured in Lake County prison after a pursuit. Witnesses Mrs. Roy Lawman and children reported the crime. Charles Kandkee claimed ownership of the car and listed Chicago as residence, while J E Harris said he accompanied Kandkee from Indianapolis to Chicago. Harris’s credibility was questioned, and Sheriff Woodworth investigated, suspecting Harris may have been in a stolen car. Further details surfaced as authorities pursued the suspects.
