Second class matter at Bronte Texas post office dated March 1 1018 under the act of Congress August 13 1871 and issued as a public notice regarding mail handling.
A baby boy was born to Mr and Mrs John Coulson in Winters hospital on Sunday afternoon September 6 1942. Congratulations to the happy parents.
The State Department of Public Welfare expects a sharp cut in Aid to Dependent Children as the new fiscal year begins September 1. Total available funds will be 3 million dollars from state and federal sources, but September grants will total about 430 thousand for roughly 21 thousand recipients, with average checks falling to about 10 dollars. Maximums are 15 dollars for one child and 24 dollars for two or more. proration may reduce single child checks to six dollars and larger families to fourteen. The note explains the omission of a prior week's publication.
Friday afternoon September 4 a shower was given by Mrs B A Bell at her home honoring Mrs Frank Hearn of San Angelo Mrs Emmitt Caperton and Miss Jerry Bell were hostesses. The afternoon featured games and refreshments of sandwiches cake and punch. A large number of gifts were received by Mrs Hearn.
The Enterprise reports from Minter Field Bakersfield California that on August 31 1942 Paul D Pruitt of Bronte son of Mr and Mrs John Pruitt has been promoted to Corporal. The communication credits his fine work in the former grade and notes such service helps lead to ultimate victory.
