Land Measuring and Map Making in County Agriculture

M. R. Bentley spent a day in Robert Lee with H. L. Scott to discuss land measuring and map making for the 1937 Agricultural Conservation Program. Three crews are surveying farms with precise field measurements, tracing maps in the county office, then sending traces to College Station for blue prints.

Farmers receive farm blueprint with payments

The article says every farmer in the program will get a blue print of his farm showing boundaries and main cross fences in addition to payment. The blue prints help in planning crops each year. May 15 was the last day for signing the work sheets.

Heel Fly Control Demonstrations Planned in Coke County

Entomologist R. R. Reppert and County Agent H. E. Smith met in Robert Lee to plan fall demonstrations in Coke County to control the heel fly and remove oxwarbles from cattle. The program runs October through December, following preliminary work last fall on J. M. Williams and Fred McDonald herds. They also inspected J. C. Hale’s pecan orchard for insect infection and discussed possible bee-keeping projects if farmers show interest.

The West Texas Butane Gas Company moves to West Twohig avenue in San Angelo and hosts an open house with entertainment by the Lane Cowboys. Attendees can tour the new offices and display rooms while the firm awards prizes for a twenty five word letter on what a farm and ranch gas system would mean to the writer.
