Senior Citizens Day event and community notes in Blackwell

Flora Sanderson and Savannah Thompson attended the Senior Citizens Day program in Robert Lee. The next meeting is April 15 at 11 30 p m in the Robert Lee Community Center. Attendees also cover singing events in Abilene Bronte and a patient in Bronte Hospital. Blackwell faced a high wind storm with dust and light rain. Keen-Agers meet at First Baptist Sweetwater and WMU and UMW meetings held in Blackwell with several attendees and a resignation. Next UMW meeting set for April 14. Buy savings bonds.

Reverend John A English Speaker at Euterpean Club

The Blackwell Euterpean Club hosted the March meeting with the Rev Dr John A English, retired Methodist minister living at Oak Creek Lake, as guest speaker presenting Faith and the motto You can if you think you can while painting a watercolor landscape. Hostess Mrs Mathie Romine and president Mrs Terry Barrett welcomed Dr and Mrs English and Mrs J Roy Sanderson, and two new members Jennings Lewis and Erwin Carter. A light buffet followed for members and guests.

Easter Seal Support Sought in Coke County

Judge W. W. Thetford, Easter Seal representative, urged public backing for the Easter Seal Society and its Texas program aiding 20,152 disabled people. He said many lack services that could boost lives and happiness, and the society continues to identify and assist those without help.
