Motorists must display 1975 plates by April 1 or risk enforcement stops. County tax offices, led by Tax Assessor O B Jacobs, have sold tags since February across Texas 253 counties. A new five year plate is being issued with an adhesive sticker starting 1976, placed on the upper left, then alternated to the upper right to cover the 95.

A Brownie Day at Camp Boothe Oaks near Sweetwater is set for May 3 from 10 am to 2 pm. Bronte High School golf team placed third in two recent meets. At the Robert Lee Invitational the squad carded 339, behind Robert Lee 322 and Stanton 337, with Wayne Alexander 78 earning runner-up medalist honors. Other scores: Bobby Bailey 82 Jim Dan Raughton 88 Nelson Coulter 91 John Hibbs 115. At Stamford Invitational Bronte shot 346 for third, led by Baughton 79 and Alexander 82, Bailey 92, Coulson 98, Coulter 94. Next action is the district tournament April 16 at Maxwell Municipal Course in Abilene.

Rancher Mike Arrott Recovers From Burns After Bronte Blaze
Reports say Mike Arrott is recovering satisfactorily from burns suffered last Friday in a ranch home explosion and fire southwest of Bronte. He was alone, beat out the flames in the bathroom, drove to Bronte Hospital, received first aid, then was moved to Shannon Hospital in San Angelo and placed in intensive care for several days.

Bronte hosts the Central Texas Girls Basketball Camp June 9 13 for girls from sixth grade up not in varsity next year. Attendees from Bronte Robert Lee Slackwell Winters Mules Nowena and surrounding areas will learn dribbling passing shooting and defensive fundamentals through mass and individual instruction. The event ends with an All Star Game and awards. Registration opens June 9 with a 10 deposit due by May 1 and a 25 total fee including camp insurance.

Mrs Wallie Gore 74 of Durango Colorado died after a short illness. Former Blackwell resident wife of Tom Gore born February 14 1901 in Blackwell. married 1934 Maryneal. Survived by three sons William Lee Collins Willard Gore Richard Gore all of Durango, three brothers Lee Alderman Memry Alderman Ed Alderman, three sisters Mary Chapman B L Pristt Melton Hayhurst and several grandchildren. Funeral and burial will be in Durango Friday.
