Texas Legislature Debates Alcohol Sales Open Saloons and House Redistricting
Chairman of the Agriculture Committee Benny Clayton of Spring Lake and Rep Johnson of San Antonio back bills to legalize two to three drinks for diners and to create open saloons for bars serving no food. Haring of Goliad and Traeger of Seguin propose prohibiting liquor purchases for anyone under 21. First redistricting plan by Rep Berry would shift 20 House seats to metros, giving Harris eight, Dallas six, Bexar four, and Tarrant two new seats.
