New Look Texas License Plates On Sale This Year
Texas Highway Department officials describe a new three letter prefix for passenger plates with two or three numerals designed for readability and future vehicle registrations. In odd years plates have black on white and in even years white on black, with two basic colors for economy. Revenue from plates funds roads and aids identification for police. Also notes 1965 map availability and ordering postcards. Nevada becomes 36th state in 1864 with Lincoln winning 9,826 votes to McClellan's 6,504.
