A severe gale struck Bristol on Wednesday, toppling over two hundred trees and damaging wharves, mills, and houses. The storm wrecked the National Rubber Company Works chimneys, cracked walls, and left streets desolate with blocked passages. Several ships and boats were driven ashore or sunk. the railroad track across the Bridge flats washed away. telegraph wires were down. no lives were reported harmed though injuries occurred from debris.
