A Bristol survey compares 1938 storm damage with 1869 figures. Uprooted shade trees total 169, elm losses dominate 1938, 20 broken poles noted, 29 houses damaged lightly, many private estates affected, insurance virtually zero, estimated highway trees damaged around six to seven hundred.
Judge William T. O'Donnell granted one week continuances in three Bristol men accused of looting a gasoline station during the hurricane. Joseph Peters Antonio Sousa Jr and Salvatore Visci were among those affected. The civil matter Lindemuth versus Martin was also continued nisi with other cases postponed.

Antonio Cupolo Antonio Scignano and Antonio Marabella were re elected to key posts. Salzano became corresponding secretary and Langello became sergeant at arms. A board of governors includes Pasquarelli Proto Mansi Arruda, with Puniello named custodian. A $2 donation to the American Red Cross disaster fund was approved.
Bristol relief administrator Domenic Mascolo announced a blanket WPA grant to rebuild the shoreline damaged by the gale. Plans include a seawall along Hope and Thames streets up to Constitution Street, with public property safety measures required first. WPA labor will clear debris, tear down condemned buildings at no cost, and assist landowners, while utility repairs and gas service restoration progress.

Four Bristol reserve police volunteers crossed into Boston at 6 30 a m to take radio operator tests, weathering the hurricane to return via Providence. They reached Bristol by 5 p m and were placed on emergency duty, walking their beats as soon as Chief Ferrara learned they had passed the exams. The men are Louis Gallo Orlando Ruggiero Erasmo Mancini and Frank Myers.
Rev Anthony R Parshley Bristol Red Cross head announces Glen E Smith appointed chairman of the annual Roll Call to be held from Armistice Day to Thanksgiving Day. Smith is manager of Ferrycliffe Farm.
The convocation opens at eight o'clock with public access. The opening service begins at five with Canon Parshley presiding. Rev Irving Evans leads the 5:30 business session including roll call and Dean's report. Rev Granville Bennett will speak at six on What Price Carelessness followed by a delegates supper.
The Kearney Post No. 6 American Legion and the Auxiliary will install new officers Friday evening at Colt Memorial High School auditorium. Francis P. Cuomo will become Commander, replacing Samuel J. Smith, and Mrs. Harold Gifford will be president of the Auxiliary, succeeding Mrs. Anne V. Seymour. District No. 2 Rhode Island officers will conduct the ceremonies. Refreshments and a social hour will follow. the public is invited.
Mrs Felicite St Angelo announces the marriage of her daughter Eleanor to George Wilson set for Saturday in New Bedford. The couple will honeymoon in Maine and reside in New York City after their return, with a note on forest fire safety urging motorists to extinguish cigarettes.
A representative from American Airlines described booming traffic between Boston Providence and New York as the hurricane disrupted roads bridges and telegraphs. In eight days after the disaster the airline carried over 8000 passengers and 370000 pounds of mail between New York and New England, averaging more than 1000 passengers and 46000 pounds of cargo daily.
