26 Years a Church Sexton Chester Myers to Retire

Chester C Myers retires tomorrow after 26 years as St Michael's Church sexton spanning three rectors. In his 79th year, he reflects on a long service caring for the church, parish house, and Holmes House on Hope Street since starting as part time in 1927 and becoming full time in 1929 under Rectors Howard Parshley and Davis.

Gray to Lead Concert Drive for Bristol Association

The Bristol District Nursing Association will display in the Narragansett Electric window for one week starting Thursday. The exhibit promotes the association’s services from ton sil removal to lending medical equipment and sharing medical information. Twi League Holds Annual Banquet and Awards

The Twi League presented the 1953 championship trophy to Collins and Aikman at the circuit banquet held Sunday at Midway Steak and Lobster House. Ascoli's pennant winners received a trophy. several awards went to Frank QC, Jesse Hoe, Anthony Asatteren as toastmaster, and Roane William Magee serving as recreation board chairman and chief speaker.

Serpa Smoke Problem Ends On Council Action

Counsel for Serpa Dairy told the town council that the firm will convert its boilers from coal to oil to address a smoke nuisance in the upper Franklin Street area. The council had threatened prosecution if action wasn’t taken after complaints and inspectors recommended chimney work and oil burning. Frederick S. Bartlett of U S Rubber said the incinerator was the main nuisance, noting seven years of trouble and that the plant is near completing its scrap burning changes. Bartlett’s letter was filed. complainants were to be notified.

Kingsmen Paper Drive Saturday Crowds Rally for Salvage

The Kingsmen Bugle and Drum announce a paper drive to collect waste paper and magazines. The first collection starts at 10 am Saturday, with a second on the following Saturday to finish the drive.
