Historical Society seeks to save Wardwell House in Bristol
The Bristol Historical Society voted to urge the Post Office Department to reconsider locating three new Post Offices on the Hope Street site now occupied by the Wardwell House. D ay Williams presented a resolution noting the 144-year-old house’s architectural value and backing from preservation groups. He argued for historic zoning and cited a state enabling act permitting spot zoning to preserve historic buildings.
