Bishop Hulse to Preach at St Michael's on Sunday

The Right Reverend Hiram Hulse, bishop of Cuba since 1915, will preach at the evening service at St. Michael's Church this Sunday. He is visiting New England briefly before the House of Bishops meeting in Davenport, Iowa, in early November. He formerly served as vicar at the Pro-Cathedral in New York and as arch-deacon of New York.

Columan Fathers Guests of Honor at Reception

One hundred members and guests of Bristol Council No. 379 Knights of Columbus attended a reception at the K of C Home on State Street to honor three Columban priests who recently opened a training school in town. Grand Knight James F. Wylie led the welcome with remarks, joined by Rev. Thomas J. Gillan and other dignitaries.

Donations Increase Buy A Tree Campaign Strengthens Bristol Drive

Bristol Garden Club reports progress in the Buy A Tree fund with $45 added bringing the total to 227.50 toward the goal. Nathaniel G. Herreshoff contributes 30 toward planting three trees in memory of Charles F. Herreshoff with the balance split among his wife Ann R. Herreshoff daughter Agnes M. Herreshoff and himself. Merchants Plan Two Day NRA Sale in Bristol

Oscar Pivin was elected chairman of a committee to arrange a two day NRA Sale at the Bristol Retail Merchants Association meeting held Wednesday evening in the Y M C A. The sale is planned for the early part of November and clubs include Fred F Suzman Anthony Guida Frank Del Toro and Charles J Sarti. Stores will close during the Armistice Day parade. Fifteen members attended the meeting presided by Mrs M Conley O'Brien president.

Goldenrod Troop No 1 Holds Weekly Meeting

The weekly meeting of Goldenrod Troop No 1 was held at 4 o'clock Wednesday in Reynolds School. Captain Bragg and Mrs John Lane led the session with racting lieutenant in charge. New patrols formed with Leah Eisenstadt Peggy Mathewson Ruth Sanford and Viola Leclerc as patrol leaders. Other officers elected Secretary Lovina Guevr mont treasurer Barbara Huestis scribe Jessie Sanford. Plans for Scout Week were made including an exhibit of Girl Scout activities in Narragansett Electric Company office window. Captain Bragg instructed on first class work and Mrs Lane guided those pursuing second class.

Men Charged With Quahanging In Bristol Harbor Pollution

14 Bristol residents were served with summonses to appear at Fifth District Court for removing shellfish from a polluted Bristol harbor area in defiance of the State Shellfish Commission order. Police report they were quahanging when apprehended. officials warn licenses may be revoked for a year due to pollution concerns.

Mrs Mary J Fitzgerald wife of Lawrence T Fitzgerald died at Providence Homeopathic Hospital after a long illness. Federal Approval Given to Sewage Disposal Loan

Bristol officials announce that the Federal Public Works Administration approved a 200000 loan for the city sewage disposal plant, with a 60000 grant. A special taxpayer meeting will seek approval to issue long term bonds, and about 100 workers are expected over eight months.

House Burglary at 93 Bradford Street Postpones Mrs Warren

Thieves broke into Mrs. George Warren’s home on Bradford Street yesterday afternoon, ransacking the house and leaving ink spills. They took three gold watches a gold link bracelet and several small trinkets, and stopped every clock in the house.
