Cate Soprano Soloist Soprano to Perform at State Street Church

The State Street Methodist Episcopal Church hosts a program this evening featuring Cate Soprano soloist with Miss Connery well known to Bristol audiences for her voice. Accompanist Mrs Cora Shaw Anderson and Miss Heinold, Emerson School of Oratory graduate, will present three groups of readings. The committee overseeing the program is listed in the article.

Church Fund Drive Favors Concert Listing and Program

Proceeds of which will be used to help detray the current expenses of the church. Mrs Harry Town chairs the event with Mr Harry Town and Mr and Mrs Thom as Jansen, Mr and Mrs A M Miller, Miss Minnie Potter, Mrs Seth Paull, and Mrs Marguerite F Hill in attendance. Del Toro pleads not guilty in boy's fatal crash case

Public Schools to Close for Rhode Island Institute Meeting

Public schools will close Thursday and Friday so teachers can attend the 89th annual Rhode Island Institute of Instruction meeting in Providence. Superintendent Elmer S. Mapes serves as vice president and engages in committee work, while teachers fund and attend the sessions.

Rebekah Lodge No 12 held a regular meeting at Odd Fellows Hall. President Mrs Phebe P Bentley announced a District 5 school of instruction on December 18 in Warren. After the meeting bingo and refreshments followed, with committee members listed. The November committee announced a Penny Auction and candy sale at the next meeting.

Fire damages home of Councilman McLaughlin

While Councilman William P McLaughlin and his wife were at a Warren theatre on Saturday, a fire broke out at their 32 Magnolia Street home. Miss Virginia McLaughlin, the councilman’s daughter at home, discovered the blaze and four local fire units responded, with smoke and water damage confined to a bedroom and closet. The building is owned by Brig Gen L H Callan.

Value of Unionism to This Community Lecture

Israel Zimmermann editor of the United Shoe and Leather Worker magazine will speak at Columbia Hall Wood Street on Thursday evening about the value of unionism to the community. Antone Pettine and Rhode Island attorney Mr. Zimmerman will preside and the Bristol local union will present its charter at the public meeting.

Armistice Ball Planned at Bristol Casino

Plans are completed for the 16th annual Armistice ball by Kearney Post No 6 American Legion at the Bristol Casino on Monday evening November 12. Music for general dancing will be by the Casino Orchestra. Callan Lauded by Bristol County Friends at Testimonial Banquet

Brig. Gen. Luke H. Callan Republican nominee for governor, honored at a Bristol County testimonial banquet at the Hotel Warren. The event, hosted by the Callan for Governor Club, drew 300 friends and featured speeches by Senator Hebert, John C. Cosseboom, and others. A desk set was presented by Howard R.
