U. S. Rubber Co. Manager to Retire After 46 Years

George Schlosser of Woonsocket will retire November 1 as General Manager of United States Rubber Company footwear and miscellaneous factories after 46 years with the firm. He will be succeeded by E. O. Upham, production engineer, general division. John E. Robinson, National India Rubber Co. factory superintendent, transfers to New Haven to head Footwear Factories Laboratories Control on November 1.

New Brick House Under Construction For Howe Couple

Work has begun on a brick dwelling for Mr. and Mrs. G L Howe on Wood Street near the junction with Hope Street and Ferry Road. Otis M Bailey is excavating for the residence and garage to be 33 by 51 feet and ready for occupancy next summer with cement foundation walls soon to be poured. The site offers a marine view of the harbor and bay.

Campaign Meetings Across Town Highlight Republican and Democratic Rallies

Town residents will attend several campaign events this week. The Democratic Club opens headquarters at 56 State Street with speakers including John J. Cooney and Francis B. Condon. A Republican rally at the Pastime Theatre features Judge Frank H Hammill, Felix Hebert, Norman S Case, and others. Additional rallies and multilingual programs are planned at Academy Hall on Wood Street with leaders including Thomas H. Byrnes and Giuseppe Scott.

Pageant Presented at Church Club of Congregational Church

A pageant titled The Light of the World was staged in Memorial Chapel Sunday evening directed by Miss Anna G Coggeshall. Participants wore country garb with costumed roles and vocal solos by Miss Theodora Post. several duets featured Miss Post and Miss Coggeshall.

Bristol Newport Line May Be Transferred

It is understood that William H. Vanderbilt of Portsmouth owner of the Newport Ferry Line contemplates a ferry service between Riverside and Pawtuxet after the Mt Hope Bridge opens. The Bristol and Conanicut would serve the route with terminals not yet announced. A bridge near Kettle Point has been discussed to ease Providence traffic but no action has been taken.

Exercises at Reynolds School Highlighted by Student Play

Interesting exercises were held in the Reynolds School auditorium by Room 6 pupils under Mrs Elizabeth P Hopkins. A three act play Lafayette the Friend of America featured students Charles McKay Herbert Silvia Angelo Squatrito Charles Weaver Manuel Aguiar Howard Bennett Joseph Dennis Joseph Securo John Fernandes. The program opened with flags and school songs and closed with Gypsy Trail.
