Community Halloween Plans Advance in Kearney
The second annual Community Halloween celebration proceeds with $301 raised by the American Legion Post 6 fund drive. Windy Friday Boats Run Aground At Harbor Head
High winds drove several vessels ashore at the harbor head including the 27 ft Bluefin owned by Paul C Nicholson Jr the 34 ft fishing boat of Joseph Vital a 22 ft power skiff owned by Daniel Rogers and a 28 ft fishing boat owned by William Caswell. The Bluefin burst moorings near Sousa’s Filling Station on Hope street and struck power lines cutting lights briefly as rescuers freed it. Vic Barlow and Ray Gladding fought to refloat the sloop, Gladding diving to free a tangled propeller before dawn the next day.
