Bristol Kids Prepare for Second Community Hallowe'en Parade

Bristol hosts a Thursday evening parade on the Common with a costume display, police and Legion contingents, and a color guard. Prizes total 125 from town funds and 250 civilian defence helmets donated by Council President J Floyd Huestis. An Armory finish features moving pictures, singing, ice cream and candy refreshments, with two nurses on site and prizes drawn from numbered tickets.

Juvenile Delinquency Discussed by Lt Kelly

Lt Edward Kelly head of Providence Police Juvenile and Women's Division told Rotary Club that juvenile crime stems from home and society. He cited 400 boys in a junior police corps with precinct meeting places and summer camp at Point Judith hosting 327 youths with only one crime reported.

Police sponsor youth ties and women investigators praised

Lt. Kelly spoke at a Providence event where police sponsored youth ties with refreshments games and costume parties to keep youngsters off the streets for several hours. He cited dividends from the program and noted the role of women police inspectors mainly in cases involving women or girls as a positive step.

Legion Of Guardsmen Formed In This Town

A new veterans group the Legion of Guardsmen formed in this town at the State Armory on Wednesday by State Organizer William R Harkin. Bristol becomes Post 9 open to regular reserve armed forces and auxiliary services with eighteen members. Temporary officers named include Lt Luke H White chair man Sgt Merton Manchester vice chairman Capt George E Carroll adjutant and Lt Walter L Luther quartermaster. A State convention in November will elect state officers and a national convention in February will elect national officers in New York City. The local post name to be announced later.

Women Meet to Organize Bristol YMCA Club

The Women and Girls Committee of the Bristol YMCA invites women of the community to a Monday 2:30 afternoon meeting to form a Women's Club. Principal speakers Mrs. Edward L. Freeman and Mrs. Charles Towne of the Rhode Island Federation of Women's Clubs will discuss activities of other clubs. Tea will follow under Miss Mary Street’s direction.

The Guiteras House hosts a Friday rummage sale on November 8 by the Flower committee of Congregational Church.
