Major Franklin H. Springer of Providence a former town resident has been awarded the Order of the Purple Heart with oak leaf for meritorious service and wounds. He graduated Fort Leavenworth staff school becoming a Major in the U S Army Reserve Chemical Warfare and works at Davell Rubber Company.

Annual Banquet Closes Bristol Twilight League Season

About 75 players, fans and league officials attended the Bristol Twilight League annual banquet at Artillery Hall. Jimmie Cooney spoke, praising sportsmanship and recalling key baseball moments, while Maurice C. Smith Jr. served as toastmaster.
