Bristol County School of Religion Opens Second Session

The Bristol County School of Religion meets Thursday evenings in the Warren Baptist Church vestry for ten weekly sessions from October to December with one Tuesday session on November 22. Rev. P. M. Spurrier leads Life of Christ, Rev Earl Vinie guides Pupil study, and Miss Marjorie Egan directs pupil work. Registered participants may join via Registrar Mrs Ruth A. Davis with a small fee.

Armistice Day Committee Appeals For Funds

Albert A. Edmonds, chairman, says no town funds were allocated for Armistice Day thus individual subscriptions are requested to fund a fitting observance. School Bus Regulations and Enrollment Rise At Local Board Meeting

The School Committee reviewed State Board bus regulations and noted the Mapses said the bus fleet mostly complied while Ingram’s bus carried six excess riders. A report on costs for expanding transportation and a need to address top-floor seating at Byfield and Hayman schools were discussed.

The annual medical inspection of pupils began with 2200 to 2300 children seen by Dr Duffy. Valley school teeth examined by Dr OBrien with recommendations for early six year molar care. Truant Officer Report Highlights Cases and Transfers

The report itemizes cases investigated totaling 436 with categories including lacking proper clothing 198 sickness 45 or ordered into school 52 truants 14 and 69 sent to the superintendent for working papers or to verify leaving school. Additional movements include 46 moved out of town 11 transferred to other schools and one temporary absence.

World Wide Guild Plans Old Folks Concert and Kitchen Orchestra

Ernest Bullock of Providence and a former Bristolian will sing solos and help at the Old Folks Concert and Kitchen Orchestra planned for Friday evening by the World Wide Guild of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Millie Slater leads the order. the program includes solos, chorus favorites, and a kitchen utensil orchestra with candy during intermission.

New England Air Pageant to Open at Rhode Island Airport

The First Annual New England Air Pageant will be held October 15 and 16 at Hillsgrove Rhode Island State Airport. Noted fliers Al Williams Jimmie Wedell and A P de Seversky are among entrants, with grandstands for 5000 spectators and a new airport administration building to be dedicated.
