A minimum fee schedule was adopted: office visit 3.00, home visit 5.00 to 8 pm, 6.00 8 pm to 11 pm, 7.00 11 pm to 8 am. The office minimum fee remains 3.00 to encourage in-office visits for better service.

The Bristol Democratic platform calls for a full time town engineer integrated into town government to service all departments. It urges charter reform to streamline operations, centralize committees, and expand public-utility oversight, while pledging strong police coverage and social security for public staff. It also supports water-service expansion, liquor-licensing oversight, tax revaluation fairness, and aggressive industrial harbor development with ongoing cooperation from state and local bodies.
Mrs. Benjamin Ebersman offered to assume executive secretary duties for the Bristol Branch of the American Red Cross replacing Mrs. Clara L. Diman. She would keep headquarters at 248 Hope Street if the board agrees, with Albert F. Means praising her background and fit for the role.
The George W. Dahl Co. won a five year tax exemption for their Tupelo street plant, covering 1957 through 1961. Council President F. Bruno touted the move as essential to attracting new industry. The exemption follows a 10 year request by the firm and delegated authority given at the April town meeting. Additional actions include borrowing approvals totaling 54,200 for fire apparatus, sewer relief, and a wharf purchase, plus stock purchases for New England Telephone and Telegraph. Council set November 14 as the final meeting of the current Council and approved light installation on Fairmount Avenue and bids for fuel oil and snow plow procurement.
Army engineers in Boston report five alternate sites for Nike housing were rejected, keeping sixteen homes at the original location. Local residents and taxpayers of South Bristol urged Bristol Town Council to press the Corps to choose a site harmonizing with development, while the Council awaited Zoning Board findings and any Army communication.
A balance of 22007.48 was reported by Mrs Mary E Per director in the Department of Public Welfare. Expenditures for the month totaled 1872.74 including DPW local 60 and 276, GPA administration 361.55, GPA cash payroll 670.95, and GPA supplementary relief 504.24. Supplementary relief itemized shows 96.25 for food 2.85 for fuel 20 rent 35.14 medical and 350 hospitalization. Public assistance cases totaled 164 across categories 20 general 81 old age 22 aid to dependent children 22 aid to the disabled and 1 aid to the blind, compared with 162 cases the same period in 1955.
Kearney Post No. 6 of the American Legion voted to endorse three proposals on the November 6 election and opposed a proposed rise in veterans housing mortgage interest from 4.5% to 5%. The resolution, introduced by Commander Ralph H. Lavers, asks Rhode Island officials and national committees to oppose the hike, while backing the Korean veterans bonus and bonds for RI universities. The meeting covered Legion national convention reports, new officer installations, and auxiliary appointments.
William James Walsh and Pasquale Michael Sansone, both of Bristol, were fined 25 dollars and costs in District Court for taking quahogs from the polluted Bristol Harbor area south of Walker's Island. They pleaded innocent but changed to guilty. State conservation officer Howard C. Lewis brought the charge. Edward B. Gayer was found guilty of assaulting his wife and placed on 30 days probation after being held for weekend bail. Oswald A. Thomas vs Henry Sousa continued for one week.
Warren's Pat Abbruzzi scored three times as the Montreal Alouettes beat the Ottawa Rough Riders 42 to 35 at Ottawa to strengthen their hold on first in the Big Four Canada football standings. Abbruzzi tallied two TDs in a 22 point third period, with Don St John replying for Ottawa with three fourth quarter TDs. Bob Pascal and Bob James added two more Als scores, Bill Bewley converted five, and Johnny Blatcher had a kickoff single.
Mrs. Clifford P. Monangi of the Rhode Island Historical Society spoke on Grandmother's China to Bristol Women's Club members and guests with slides. The group voted a United Fund contribution and acknowledged a Y letter for sending two youths to day camp.
Shawnee patrol led by Gépeze W. Northup won most games and the patrol dramatization of Fire Prevention at the Fire Prevention Night meeting in Scout Hall. Demonstrations showed correct fire fighting, home fire safety, and equipment use. Arthur Silvia became a tenderfoot, dubbed by Scoutmaster George R. Fish, with plans for Columbus Night next Monday amid doubt about Columbus discoverer.
