Oregon the battleship fades in Yokohama salvage yard
The once famous Oregon battleship is decaying in a Yokohama salvage yard after a chain of sales from U S government to a Guam salvage firm and then to a Japanese company. Built in 1848, it once steamed from Pacific to Atlantic to battle Spain, and its final fate is to yield high grade steel rather than be scrapped as a war relic.
