In San Diego a British-born woman recounts five years as the wife of an American Red Cross official and her decision to become a U S citizen. She describes leaving England, embracing the United States, studying civics, and pledging allegiance in the Country Court House, San Diego.
A diverse class of polyglot nationals enrolls to contribute to the nation, with the Mansbachers highlighted as a sympathetic couple. Mrs Mansbocher endures a history of persecution in Nazi Germany while pledging allegiance in a moving, faltering recital. Mr Mansbocher shines as a challenging but inspiring pupil.

Plans are set for United States Rubber Company Bristol plant Open House inviting employees families friends and townspeople over 15. Visitors can tour the Wood Street facility 9 to 4 with guides explaining wire and cable manufacture and a large exhibit including armed forces cables. The plant operates six days a week three shifts employing about 1500 people with a 5.5 million dollar annual payroll.
The Bristol Audubon Society announces its first fall meeting at Guiteras House with plans for a full season. Roland C. Clement of the Audubon Society will discuss What Makes A Bird Sanctuary and a new bird identification checklist. Further talks, screen tours at Henry Barnard School Providence, and a wildlife lecture series are planned for members and the public.
The Kearney Post American Legion endorses the Home Rule charter ahead of the November 4 vote. Charter Commissioner James T. Pierce, ex commander, urged support and explained the headship and non partisan provisions. He noted Bristol schools would be depoliticized and said changes can be made by amendment.
Joseph Silveira was elected president of the Bristol Senior High School senior class. Robert Caizzi became vice president with Helen Oliver as secretary and Martina Witherall as treasurer. Senior class officers and advisors were named with Miss Sarah C. Callan as class advisor. Junior officers followed with John Matheson as president and Jessica Castigliego as secretary.
A church service notice lists Rev. Martin leading a ceremony on October 8, 1927 for Mrs. Myers at the Silver Avenue church. It records a personal tribute and attendance details.
The 77th Annual Harvest Festival of Trinity Church will be observed tomorrow with special services at 7 30 p m and a sermon by Rev Canon James R MacColl of Newport. The boy's choir from St Andrew's School Barrington will join the Trinity Church choir in Solemn Evensong. Donations of foodstuffs will be blessed for distribution to needy institutions and should be brought to the church by tomorrow afternoon. A reception follows in the church rooms and the congregation acts as the festival committee.
The Regular October Bristol School Committee meeting is advanced to Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in Colt Memorial High School library due to Columbus Day. A Bristol Teachers Retirement Fund board meeting will precede at 7:30 p.m. The department drops the clothing course for lack of a qualified teacher and ends physical recreation classes after tonight for lack of interest.
More than 20 prizes have been donated for the Bristol Women’s Republican Club fashion show to be held October 23 at Colt Memorial Auditorium. Donated items include Salem rocker, waffle iron, 100 gallons of oil, electric clock, tankful of gasoline and other goods. A publicity committee announced the usherettes: Supreme Maureoy Murphy, Carol Bengon, Rist Senison, A Serbst, Rymore Cecilia Perry, Judith Robinson, Shirley Ul eri and Betty Ulson.
In Bristol on Saturday Colt Mediorial eleven overwhelmed South Kingston 19 to 0 at loser's field. Chuck Annarummo scored twice and George Medeiros added a TD with key plays including a fourth down pass to Bob Caizzi.
