Bristol War Welfare Committee Plans Sendoff for 24 National Army Troops
Bristol residents organize a parade to escort 24 local Bristol boys departing tomorrow at 8:20 AM to Camp Devens Massachusetts. Capt. Asa W Hathaway chairs the committee which arranges comfort bags tobacco and supplies funded by local subscriptions. The sendoff includes a police platoon band G A R unit Boy Scouts and Exemption Board with names of the traveling servicemen and a detailed tobacco bundle tally totaling 51 bundles for all departing Bristol men.

Winter timetable for local NYNH&H trains announced
The fall and winter schedule of trains on the local branch of the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad went into effect last week and is nearly identical to last winter. Sunday and weekday half hour service trains have been dropped. Morning northbound trains include 8 50 and 9 20 with hourly service from Constitution Street depot to 6 20 pm except 5 50 pm. After 6 20 pm trains run hourly up to the express matter train, which now arrives at 6 30 pm, half an hour earlier.

Bristol Improvement Association Calls Public Hearing on Water Rates
At its fall meeting the Bristol Improvement Association discussed proposed water rate changes and urged the Town Council to hold a public hearing. Attorney McCabe outlined views for a Public Utilities Commission hearing set for Nov 19. The group supported replacing the meter service charge with a $10 yearly minimum and invited a Bristol and Warren Water Works representative to attend. Superintendent DeCoudres reported school gardens failed due to rain and poison ivy.

Rhode Island Shipyard Plan Unveiled At Newport Meeting
