Blood Donor List Grows as Date Nears in Bristol

Dr. D V A Capone leads a Red Cross blood donor drive with 400 volunteers sought for December 19 and 20. The list includes Mrs. Frederick V. Martin and Coast Guard members in Bristol. Bloodmobile hours run noon to 6 pm, then 10 am to 4 pm Thursday. Volunteers urged to call Bristol numbers and a general committee meeting is planned at the Y M C A.

Miss Anne Clowes Performs in Brown University Drama

Miss Anne Clowes daughter of Lloyd R Clowes of 118 High Street acted in The Drunkard staged by Brown Universitys Sock and Buskin. The temperance drama by W H Smith and a gentleman reflects early 19th century works for P T Barnum. Clowes is a Pembroke sophomore and Mount Lebanon High School alumna pursuing a BA.

Tonsillitis Operation for Mrs Goulart at Truesdale Hospital

Mrs. Alex Goulart Jr of 13 Third Street underwent tonsillitis surgery on November 21 at Truesdale Hospital after a month long illness. She is a supervisor and sewing instructor at Rayco Manufacturing Co in Pawtucket. Mary Camera Miss Hattie Brown and Mr and Mrs Michael Fa bo left early for Philadelphia to attend the Army Navy football game.

Open House Planned at New Bristol Society Quarters

The Bristol Historical Society will hold an open house at its new first floor quarters in the Rogers Free Library. Librarian-custodian Miss Alice B. Almy announced the event after guiding the relocation of relics from Burnside Memorial Hall. New members were welcomed as Helen Horton presided in Canon Davis's absence.

Bristol Senior High cuts basketball squad to 24

Bristol Senior High School narrowed its basketball roster to 24 players under Coach Artie A. Pansa after early week tryouts. Practice will continue two hours daily as the team prepares for a December 12 charity game at Rogers High School and a December 18 home opener versus Hope High School. The Pyramids of Charity Women’s Club plans its third annual sale and bazaar on December 15 at the Bristol Train of Artillery Hall. Santa will visit from 3 p m to 7 p m for children ages two to nine, with gifts for all visitors who bring letters. The old Y M C A on Hope and Bradford streets was bought at auction by Providence Telephone Company. Alterations for Bristol telephone exchange include removing steps and stairs, with entrance moved to the northeast corner. Barbour and LeClair contractors handle repairs as interior on the lower floor is torn out for a rented store.

Runaway Horse Collision In Front Of Newman Bros Store

A horse team ran into Seth Paull’s wagon, startling his team and pushing the pair northward toward W. J. Diman’s Gloriana wagon. The grays failed to clear the low gear, floundering and kicking as they collided amid freight unloading near the highway.

Williams Horse Captured After Fractious Scuffle

Dr Williams' horse ran toward Constitution street but was captured by John Burns. The bridle held, harness cut, and the horse released unharmed. A wheel and attached gear struck a gray horse, wheels damaged, and the scene deteriorated into a fracas.
