Rotarians Sponsor Banquet for Colt Football Team

The Rotary Club announces a banquet to honor the championship Colt football team for its record, with Albert Fusonie leading the arrangements and Hubert Hill chairing the committee. Members include Chief Ferrara Brig. Gen. Hall and several others, meeting at the YMCA next Tuesday to plan awards and lettermen. The Rev Thomas Burns spoke at the Rotary gathering outlining his four guiding principles. Providence Club to send bowling teams to Bristol for matches on December 5, and the Christmas party will be at St Michael's Parish House with guests invited.

Doric Club Hosts Annual Ladies Night At Masonic Temple

The Doric Club of St. Albans Lodge No. 6 F and A M held its annual Ladies Night at the Masonic Temple on Hope Street featuring a 6 30 dinner and entertainment. Singers and performers included Ella F Gray Betty L Greer Connie H Briggs and others with violin by Hubert F Hill and accordion by Buddy Congdon. committee members led by Allen M Newman assisted by a long list of club officers.

Father and Son Night Planned by St Elizabeth CYO

St Elizabeth’s CYO completes plans for a Father and Son night on Monday Dec 3 at the club headquarters. Dr Joseph E Pine will speak and Charles Mello will be honored as the first father. Entertainment will be provided by members and refreshments served.

Bristol War Fund Drives To $13191.55 Final Total

Chairman Bartlett announced Bristol raised 13191.55 in the United War Fund drive surpassing the 12000 quota at 110 percent. Executive secretary Mrs Brightman released the donor list including individuals and organizations from Residential and Business divisions with gifts ranging from 5 to 38.05.

Lieut Jose C Victoria Elevated to Lieutenant at Brooklyn Navy Yard

Jose C Victoria son of Mr and Mrs John C Victoria of 6 Doran avenue Bristol rises to Lieutenant at the Brooklyn Navy Yard where he is stationed He is a Colt Memorial High School graduate and earned a civil engineering degree from Rhode Island State College in 1938 He studied at Temple University and at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis He was a government civil service employee at the Philadelphia Navy Yard before his commission in June 1941 He has served in naval posts in the United States and Brazil He resides in Brooklyn with his wife Irene Furtado and their two children

Sailor Joseph Morris Served Aboard Guest in Pacific War

Navy records note water tender Joseph Morris of 74 Center Street served on the destroyer Guest off Okinawa where a Japanese plane strike hit the mast. Guest saw action with escort carriers near Okinawa and the Salashima islands, part of Task Force 58 during the First Battle of the Philippine Sea and fought through the northern Solomons, the Bismarck Archipelago, Palaus and Iwo Jima. Six New Members Voted Into Bristol Council

The Bristol Council Knights of Columbus met on State street and admitted six new members. They approved a $10 donation to the American Legion Christmas Fund and a $5 gift to the Christmas Seal Health Fund. The group planned a visit to the home of the late William Connery on High street yesterday at 8 o clock.

Monthly Rubbish Drive Scheduled for Early Week

The town announces the monthly rubbish drive for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Trucks will pick up waste by territory with easy container placement for one man. South of Church lane is Monday and north of Church street Tuesday, with outlying districts serviced on Wednesday.
