Silver Creek House to be offered as town museum

The oldest house in Bristol known as Silver Creek may become a town museum under an offer from Bishop James DeWolf Perry and his son Rev James DeW Perry Jr. Built in 1680 by Nathaniel Bosworth, the house figures in local history and will be discussed at the Bristol Historical Society meeting on Monday December 10 at Holmes House where Perry Jr. will speak on The People At Silver Creek.

Beach Committee Plans December 12 Meeting in Burnside

Hubert F. Hill chairs the Beach Committee which meets December 12 in the Town Council Chambers Burnside Building to continue seeking a beach or pool after a Financial Town Meeting rejection. The group, formed over 40 years ago, offered resignations but was urged to persist. Town Solicitor Lucien Capone urged continued effort while 252 town youths petitioned for reconsideration. Spokesman Joseph Digati indicated Colt Drive as a favored site.

Russian Relief To Be Subject Of Rotary Talk

Capt. Sidney Koret of the Army Air Corps on terminal leave will address the Rotary Club tomorrow noon on Russian Relief. He notes his war experience and friendship with Russians, referencing six weeks in the Ukraine and the shuttle bombing of Germany. An inter-club bowling match with Providence Club is set for December 12 at the High Street Alleys. The bulletin notes purchase of a war bond and a $5 Christmas Seal Health Bond plus $5 to the Community Christmas Fund and urges member contributions.

Nelson Again Heads Salvation Army Annual Appeal

Robert W. Nelson accepts chairmanship of the Bristol Salvation Army Annual Appeal committee for $1,000 with Envoy W. A. Nicol as Public Relations Secretary. J. William Wood will be treasurer and a wide list of local officials and professionals join the committee. The appeal funds will support homes hospitals social services nurseries boys clubs camps veterans centers and servicemen clubs without regard to race creed or color.

December charity events in St Michaels parish schedule

The parish lists activities from December 4 and 8 featuring a Xmas sale and bridge at St Michaels Parish House by the Ladies Benevolent Society and a fancy work and food sale by the Mite Society of First Baptist Church. Also December 15 hosts a rummage sale by Golden Rod Troop at St Michaels Parish House and December 31 brings a New Year’s Eve dance at the Bristol Yacht Club.

Two Injured As Bus Hits Truck

A New England Transportation Company bus driven by Albert H. Eaton collided with Louis Davis's truck near DuPont's Garage. Both vehicles sustained damage and passengers were checked. Eaton and Davis had minor injuries, while Davis's lip and Eaton's wrist were affected. Captain John Cashin led the Bristol police investigation.
