Bridge Whist Party Draws Bristol Students and Gentlefolk

About 150 persons attended the bridge whist party in the auditorium of John Post Reynolds School on Tuesday evening under the Bristol Twilight Base Ball League Board of Governors. Refreshments were served. The committee, chaired by Mrs. Marian G Boutilier, included Mrs. Frederick Garvin, Miss Evelyn Carter, James F Duffy, Edward A Currier Jr, and George Joseph O’Brien.

Old Ships and Their Logs Lecture by Prof W H Munro

Prof Emeritus Wilfred H Munro of Brown University spoke to the Rhode Island Historical Society on Old Ships and Their Log Books describing extinct navigation methods and his sea experiences including shipwreck off southern California and his later Peru travels. He donated two Bristol bound log books from 1830 used to illustrate the talk.

Cranston Worsted Mills Open Season Against Nighthawks in Local Clash

The Cranston Worsted Mill basketball team opens the season tonight at 8 in the YMCA gym against the Nighthawks, a lineup of former high school stars, amid strong rivalry. Mill hopes Foxy Marshall and Bider lead a fast forward corps with Remieres Ke brek Sylvia providing support as Shaw of Providence referees the hot game. A preliminary pits undefeated Comets of Bristol against Warren.

Two Arrests For Revelling At Corner Of High And Court

Officer Manuel Henry arrested two young men last night around 11 for revelling after a scuffle at the High and Court streets corner. An empty jug figured in the affray and one man was alleged to be struck by the jug wielded by his companion. Both were arraigned and posted bail for the Fifth District Court next Monday.

Holiday Spirit Prevails Amid Bristol Thanksgiving Observances

Thanksgiving Day was a general holiday in Bristol with schools closed and many businesses shuttered. Veterans at the State Soldiers Home received jelly from Arnold Women's Relief Corps, and numerous churches held services. Thousands visited the Mt Hope bridge on Metacom avenue, while Primrose Club dances and a Bristol Juniors game drew crowds. Warren’s Parks Athletic Club defeated Bristol Juniors 13 to 0.

Thanksgiving Programs At John Post Reynolds School

Pupils from Grade 6B2 presented Thanksgiving programs in the Reynolds School auditorium on Wednesday forenoon. The first part featured songs and recitations including Star Spangled Banner The Pilgrims Came Giving Thanks and America with performances by students led by Miss Ella M Waldron. A flag drill closed the segment with several students participating.

Mr and Mrs John C Gablinske of 274 High Street observed their 19th wedding anniversary with nearly 100 relatives and friends from Boston Dorchester Woburn Providence and Warren at a hours long home gathering. Town of Barrington Transfers Water Stock

Greenwich Water and Gas Company subsidiary acquires Bristol and Warren Water Works stock held by Barrington in a legacy from the late Col. Samuel P. Colt. The $25,000 stake, bequeathed for poor relief, passes to the Greenwich firm for town welfare support.

The Collins and Aikman soccer club lost 1 to 0 to Warren Town at Burr's Hill Park in a tight opening cup match.
