Relief Corps Visit Soldiers Home in Rhode Island

A large gathering from Rhode Island Women’s Relief Corps and G A R veterans visited the Soldiers Home on Sunday. They enjoyed speeches music readings and a flag salute with cake candy and fruit distributed to veterans. Special remembrances were given to Civil War veterans Joseph Fieldsend Charles E Greene and World War veteran Ernest A Bloomstrom.

Warren Girl Scouts Visit This Town

Thistle Troop of Warren Girl Scouts led by Captain Mrs Raymond Wilbur spent a day touring the Soldiers Home Mt Hope and The Mount Indian relics collection of R F Haffenreffer Jr. The visit also included songs for veterans and a hike to the town center as part of Girl Scout Week observances.

Epworth League Christmas Sale At State Street Church

Epworth League held its annual Christmas sale in the vestry of State Street ME Church with fancy articles, novelties, home made cakes and candy drawing strong patronage. United Brothers Lodge Plans Visit and Meeting

United Brothers Lodge No 13 I O O F forms plans for a visit to Amity Lodge No 6 Warren and for Reliance Lodge No 34 to attend in Warren. Frank E Maxwell leads the outing committee to present the cup for the top points winner with entertainment and refreshments after the meeting. Members depart on the 7 45 bus tomorrow evening.

Battery C Social Evening At Armory Advances drill notes

Battery C 243d CAC plans a social event at the State Armory after drill with Major E C Webster and regimental officers in attendance. The program includes remarks by a bean sapper and music. Next Saturday Lieut Albert A Moren will conduct a preliminary examination for gunner ratings in preparation for December. Re-enlistments boost strength. Butler, Martin, Collins, and Kotowski sign another hitch. Butler has seven years in the unit.

Community Brotherhood Meeting Focuses on Constitution Provisions

Members of the Men's Community Brotherhood met Sunday in the First Congregational Church chapel to discuss provisions of the constitution and by-laws as submitted by the executive committee. Rev. W. Baker, postponed speaker, will deliver his talk next Sunday morning.

Ideas of 1928 Dance Revue at Guiteras School Auditorium

Miss Rita Goddard of Newport will present a 24-number dance revue titled Ideas of 1928 at Guiteras Memorial School next Friday evening. The event, under Collins & Aikman Athletic Association, features Newport and local youths in songs, sketches, dances and specialties. proceeds aid athletic activities of the association.

Battery C Officer Wins Turkey Shoot at East Warren Club

Bristol Train of Artillery members competed in a turkey shoot by the East Warren Rod and Gun Club. Lieut Albert A Moren won with 48 of 50 points earning a twelve pound turkey. Capt Henry A Hambrook was second with 47. Other Bristol riflemen scores ranged from 34 to 46 as 22 caliber open sight rifles were used. BT A members brought their rifles but did not fire them in the contest.

Legionnaires To Attend In Installation

A delegation from Kearney Post No 6 American Legion will travel to Newport to attend the Rhode Island Department officers installation. The event follows the July convention on Block Island and marks the department’s second official installation since 1919. Newport Post has prepared elaborate ceremonies expecting about 500 Legionnaires from across the state and visiting veterans from Massachusetts and Connecticut.
