In Wood and Bradford streets a man named Ferrara pleaded nolo contendre to possessing intoxicants after a raid on a saloon. He was fined 50 dollars. The same police records note prior illegal liquor incidents at the saloon. Charlestown resident La Chance was brought in for drinking on Thanksgiving night and given probation after a town judge’s recommendation. Other docket items include manslaughter charges adjourned for a report, and several civil cases continued or disposed of as the court schedules permit.

Three Stile Alarms Reported In Town Saturday
Three small fires drew responses from volunteer fire companies on Saturday. The Ever Ready Engine and Hose Company put out a chimney fire at Frank Altearo’s home on Second School Street at 5:05 am. Defiance Hose Company tackled a blaze at the corner of Hope and Beach Terrace Road with an electric light pole extinguished. Hy draulion Engine and Hose Company handled a tree fire on Hope Street near Cluver Street at 7:15 pm caused by faulty electric wires.

Building Committee Awards School Equipment Contracts at Special Meeting

Bruno Murder Trial Opens In Fall River Case Reopened At Providence
The Bruno murder trial in Providence resumed with testimony from James Fragosa of Fall River who described a confrontation at Brunos restaurant in which Medeiros was killed after a struggle and a gunshot. State witnesses identified participants and noted a past racketeering incident at the restaurant. The defense argued Bruno acted to protect himself and his money, while noting past threats and a locked gun.
