Firefighters Halt Blaze in Three Story Tenement Standstill
Yesterday morning firemen from four companies answered an 18th district alarm at 10 42 in a six tenement building at 59 Court Street. A small blaze on the second floor of a unit occupied by Mrs Emily Almeida was checked quickly despite a north wind. Two water lines controlled the fire with a third ready for emergency. Most damage came from smoke and water to household goods. the building is owned by Samuel Nusschfeld. The recall sounded at 12 42.

Annual Christmas Sale at Home for Aged Women
A Christmas sale was held at the Home for Aged Women on Franklin Street from 3 to 5 PM. Mrs Cornelius J Hasbrouck chaired the event with reception helpers Mrs William H Spooner and Mrs J H Corthell. Tables featured were Fancy, Cake, Candy, Tea and Sandwiches, with named volunteers staffing each. The sale benefited the home.

Successful Card Party Held by YMCA Ladies Committee
Under the auspices of the Ladies Committee of the YMCA a public card party was held Tuesday night in Rockwell Hall. There were 52 tables and prizes were awarded at each table. The affair was sponsored by Mrs Alfred M. Merriman and assisted by committee members. The hall was decorated with cut flowers corn stalks and pumpkins. Fruit punch and lemonade were served and homemade cake and candies were sold.

George Ethier Dies in DerricK Accident at Warren Wharf
George Ethier 58 of 465 Child Street Warren was killed at 3 15 PM Tuesday unloading coal from the barge Nanna Scully at Seth Paull Company wharf Thames Street when an iron derrick arm failed and a half ton boom struck him on the head. Fellow workers rushed to him but he died soon after. Emergency calls were sent and Rev Thomas J Gillan and Dr John Take responded. Medical Examiner O R Siegel ruled death a fractured skull. Ethier born in St Michael Canada had lived 32 years in the area and four weeks in Warren. Survived by wife and seven sons, funeral from 465 Child Street with burial in St Johns Cemetery, Warren.
