A New England contest by Eastern Dairies Inc offers a 1500 prize for a new ice cream name. The union of eight companies funds research and flavor development with plants in New Hampshire to Maine. School Committee Holds Special Meeting Over By Laws

The School Committee met at Colt Memorial High School library to print by laws. Members Hamill Condon and Wall prepared a new compilation with changes since the last edition. Seven articles were discussed over more than 1½ hours and another meeting was set to finish the remaining 11 articles.

St Michael's Brotherhood hears Rev Morrison on unity

Rev W A Morrison of Manotick Ontario spoke at St Michael's Brotherhood monthly meeting in Holmes House praising Brotherhood work in the United States and Canada. Four applications for membership were received and the group voted to hold the annual Christmas tree festival on Tuesday December 27. Refreshments were served by social committee chair Frank A Rounds with J William Wood and John G Stewart assisting.

Hulda of Holland musical comedy staged for church fund

The Pastime Theatre hosted a two performance run of Hulda of Holland by Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel members to benefit the church. Dora L. Ruggiero directed with a five piece orchestra and a cast featuring Joseph Panzarella, Louis Nastri, Mary Santo, and others. The show drew full houses and received strong praise for amateur production.

Fifth District Court Dockets Two Cases in Morning Session

Judge Frank H Hammill presided as two cases moved through the Fifth District Court. In the manslaughter matter, Richard J Kavanaugh’s police recommendation delayed the Subica case for two weeks after Manuel A Subica, in Fall River, pleaded not guilty in the death of 12 year old Antone Ligero from a truck collision at High Street and Borden Avenue. In a separate matter, Walter A Kenfauver of Providence sues Manuel R Silvia for embezzlement of 40 dollars, continued one week by agreement.

Mount Hope Toll Bridge Contract Awarded to McClintic Marshall

The Mount Hope Toll Bridge project between this town and Portsmouth awards the building contract to McClintic Marshall Company of Harrisburg Pa with Foundation Company of New York receiving the sub structure work. Equipment will ship from New York tomorrow and construction is to start soon with bridge open by July 1 1929. A daily $1000 penalty for delay and a $1000 daily bonus for early completion are set, while condemnation proceedings for land on the Bristol and Portsmouth shores proceed in Providence and Newport courts.

Rhode Island Women Host Birthday Celebration at Soldiers' Home

Members of the Soldiers' Home Committee of the Woman's Relief Corps Rhode Island visited the Soldiers' Home Sunday afternoon for an entertainment and to mark three comrades birthdays. Joseph Fieldsen 87 Eugene Beauregard 50 and Ernest Bloomstrom 38 were feted with a home made cake and candy. The program included songs poems solos dances and readings with local civic and veteran participants.
