Anthony Agatiello recreation director announced a new Hi Y Basketball League at the Bristol YMCA open to high school boys not on varsity or junior varsity squads. Four clubs are expected, with play to start in December. Registration urged at the YMCA for schedules.

Fish detailed the 1912 founding and presented archival displays. Planned events for 1953 include Eagle Scout Reunion in February and a banquet on February 8, with Citizenship Day on February 12.
Patrolman Joseph T. Texeira arrested four juveniles after a week of investigation into the breaking of 43 windows at Miss Marjorie Grant's summer home at 18 Highland Road. Stones were found inside the house. police have not disclosed possible charges.
A flock wandered Fort Hill Road area prompting complaints until Arthur Manchester of Sunnyside Avenue captured and halted the roaming sheep. The incident involved property owned by Daniel Monis of Providence and appeared to stem from careless hunters leaving barriers open.
Police report Harold M. Aylsworth Jr. 19 of 106 Cutler Street Warren ran 50 mph in a 30 zone and 56 mph in a 36 mph zone on Hope Street. fined $10 and costs in 5th District Court. Sunday a collision on Wood and Roma Streets caused minor damage to a 21 year old Pawtucket driver and a 43 year old Warwick driver. No injuries. Hunters’ shots near Tupelo and Herzig Streets prompt chief to warn Bristol woods closure if behavior repeats.
About 368 of roughly 386 eligible workers cast ballots in the Carr’s election. With 18 contested ballots unsettled and one vote discrepancy, the union appears favored by a large turnout though results are technically in doubt. Union officers challenged many ballots, and officials note potential policy issues.
