21 Million Excluded From New Federal Payroll Tax System
The United States News outlines that 21,000,000 workers will be exempt from the payroll tax starting January 1 while another 21,000,000 will face a 1 percent deduction rising to 3 percent to fund individual savings accounts. Excluded groups include agricultural workers self employed professionals domestic and personal employees and government workers. Old age assistance payments of 30 dollars monthly for singles and 60 dollars for married couples are provided by state and federal governments. The excluded receive direct aid, while those taxed in 1941 will not get benefits until 1942 with varying potential monthly incomes at age 65 depending on earnings. Maximum benefit cited is 85 dollars monthly for a 3000 dollar annual income.
